Tulane University’s women’s tennis team will host two nationally ranked teams, #38 Charlotte and #56 Rice, at the Goldring Tennis Center on Friday and Sunday, according to a March 12 announcement.
The matches are expected to draw attention as Tulane (7-6) has won six of its last eight contests this season. The team recently secured a 4-0 victory over North Texas in Birmingham. Hosting these ranked opponents provides an opportunity for Tulane to further improve its record and test itself against strong competition.
Friday’s match against Charlotte is scheduled for 1 p.m., with the first 50 fans receiving free aviator sunglasses and subs. Due to parking restrictions related to the 2026 New Orleans Book Festival, fans attending Friday’s match are advised to park in the University Square lot section abutting Broadway Street. Parking near Prytania Street or Pine Street will be reserved for festival operations. For Sunday’s Senior Day match against Rice at 11 a.m., both sides of the University Square lot will be available as usual.
Charlotte enters the weekend with a 10-3 record and is on a five-match winning streak. The team’s doubles pair, Sara Suchankova and Ni Xi, are currently ranked 24th nationally. Rice holds a 7-4 record after narrowly losing to #36 Wichita State last Saturday. Rice also features a nationally ranked doubles team: Darya Schwartzman and Uma Bakaityte, who are currently #74.
Sunday’s match against Rice will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Paul Boron providing commentary. Additional live statistics can be accessed through StatBroadcast links provided by Tulane Athletics.
The upcoming matches highlight Tulane’s ongoing efforts to compete at a high level in collegiate tennis while engaging fans with special promotions and accessible facilities.
