Tulane University’s women’s tennis team was defeated by No. 25 Baylor, 6-1, in a match held Sunday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. The Green Wave’s only point came from Micah Pierce, who secured a singles victory at the No. 4 position.

Baylor improved its record to 2-0 after winning a close match against Illinois the previous day. Tulane fell to 0-2 for the season.

In doubles play, Baylor clinched the point before Tulane’s Summer Chandler and Campbell Ricci could finish their match at No. 1 doubles, where they were leading against Na Dong and Zuzanna Kubacha, ranked 61st nationally.

Chandler also challenged Dong—ranked No. 40 in singles—in a three-set contest at the top singles spot but ultimately lost. At No. 6 singles, Natalia Fantini of Tulane pushed Neda Rahimkhani to a super-tiebreaker before falling 10-8.

Tulane will compete next Saturday in the ITA Kickoff Weekend event, facing fourth-ranked Auburn at noon. Nevada and Florida State are set to play later that afternoon, with consolation and final matches scheduled for Sunday.
