Tulane women’s tennis falls to Florida Atlantic in close 4-3 match

Tulane University’s women’s tennis team lost to Florida Atlantic University by a score of 4-3 in Boca Raton on April 4.

The result brings Tulane’s season record to 9-10, while Florida Atlantic improved to 7-8. The match was closely contested, with both teams earning points in singles and doubles play.

In doubles competition, Micah Pierce and Leigh Van Zyl secured a win for Tulane with a 6-2 victory. However, Florida Atlantic claimed the overall doubles point after winning the other two matches. In singles action, Natalia Fantini earned Tulane’s first point with a straight-set win at the No. 6 position. Campbell Ricci followed at No. 1 singles with another straight-set victory. Summer Chandler added Tulane’s third point by winning her match at the No. 2 spot in three sets.

Despite these efforts, Florida Atlantic won enough matches to secure the overall team victory. The final scores for each individual match were provided by Tulane Athletics.

Tulane will play its next match against Southern Miss on April 7 at 2 p.m., facing an opponent that holds a season record of seven wins and seven losses.
