Tulane University’s women’s tennis team lost a close match to Southern Miss, 4-3, on April 7. The contest took place in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
The outcome was decided after Tulane dropped the doubles point but managed to win three singles matches before Southern Miss secured the victory. With this result, the Golden Eagles improved their record to 8-7 while Tulane fell to 9-11.
In doubles play, Tulane’s top-ranked pair of Campbell Ricci and Summer Chandler won at No. 1 with a score of 6-4. However, Southern Miss claimed victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions.
During singles competition, Micah Pierce earned a win for Tulane at No. 5 singles, followed by Ricci winning at No. 1 and Diana Badalyan taking the match at No. 6 singles. The deciding point came when Sakura Sudo from Southern Miss defeated Chandler in three sets at the No. 2 spot.
Tulane will look to rebound as they return to action against Nicholls on Saturday at 11 a.m.
