Having replaced Cedric Richmond in 2021, Carter brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles in both the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate.
On June 20, 2025, Congressman Carter invited the public to “#LA02: join me and @nolahealthdept this Saturday, June 21st, for a #FamilyFunDay complete with resources for health and wellness, employment, gun violence prevention, and more. There will also be food and giveaways! Learn more: https://t.co/Utk9oujKXj”. This event aims to provide community members with essential resources while promoting family-friendly activities.
In another post on the same day, he shared details of his recent engagements in the River Parishes area: “This week, I hosted resource fairs & town halls across #LA02 in the River Parishes to ensure YOU have access to federal resources and have open conversations about what’s happening in our country. I’m fighting for you, so I want to hear what you have to say.” These efforts reflect his commitment to maintaining open lines of communication with his constituents.
Later that day, Carter highlighted a collaborative effort with Whip Katherine Clark: “Yesterday, @WhipKClark joined me in #LA02 for a roundtable on the importance of protecting reproductive rights and uplifting voices from red states like ours.” He also mentioned their visit to Congo Square during Juneteenth celebrations to immerse themselves in Black culture and history.
Troy Carter was born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently resides there. He is an alumnus of Xavier University of Louisiana where he earned a BA degree in 1986.
