The Tulane baseball team had two players, Jason Wachs and Jude Abbadessa, named to the American Conference Weekly Honor Roll on March 23 after a strong week that included a series win over Memphis and a 4-1 overall record.
This recognition highlights the individual performances of Wachs, a sophomore outfielder from Pembroke Pines, Florida, and Abbadessa, a graduate student pitcher from Endicott, New York. Both contributed significantly to Tulane’s success last week.
Wachs led the offense by hitting .400 with eight runs scored. He collected two doubles, a triple, one home run, walked seven times and posted an on-base percentage of .609 along with a slugging percentage of .867. He drove in four runs during the week. According to the announcement, “Wachs leads the team and is placed seventh in the conference in RBIs (27). He also leads the conference in doubles (10). His .341 batting average is the best on the squad while his 17 walks rank second.” This marks his second career selection for this honor.
Abbadessa aided Tulane’s pitching staff by earning two wins out of relief appearances while allowing just one run over 7.1 innings for an ERA of 1.23. He faced 28 batters across those outings with five hits allowed, two walks issued and six strikeouts recorded. This is his first time being selected for this honor at Tulane.
Overall this season, Tulane baseball has been recognized by the conference five times through its weekly awards program; across both this season and last season combined they have received honors fourteen times.
Tulane will finish its nine-game homestand against Grambling State on March 25 before traveling for a road series against UAB from March 27–29.
