NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 17, 2022) – Gambel Communications founder Betsie Gambel was recognized by New Orleans CityBusiness and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) New Orleans this month for her commitment and passion to improving the Greater New Orleans community.
AFP recognized Gambel’s careerlong impact on philanthropy in Greater New Orleans with the Board of Directors Award during its National Philanthropy Day luncheon Nov. 16, 2022. Earlier in the month, New Orleans CityBusiness identified Gambel among its inaugural Power 50 for her contributions to the business community. Both honors are further proof of Gambel’s commitment and passion to her career and legacy.
The AFP Board of Directors Award symbolizes a significant contribution through philanthropic programming to the betterment of the quality-of-life in our community and in Louisiana by individuals, community organizations, families and nonprofit organizations. Gambel has always had a desire to help and is active in the community through professional and volunteer work. As a native New Orleanian, she is a firm believer in giving back to her community. Over the years, she has served on countless boards and worked on dozens of fundraisers, specializing in establishing significant partnerships with corporations. Gambel has been involved in several agencies as a board or committee member, including Junior League of New Orleans, New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter, New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute, Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and more.
The inaugural New Orleans CityBusiness Power 50 is a list of leaders in the New Orleans area who have made overall impacts on the area’s economic development and moved the community forward with their energy and innovative ideas. Gambel founded Gambel Communications, a public relations agency, in 2009 following Hurricane Katrina and a battle with cancer. Since its founding 13 years ago, Gambel Communications has grown from a one-woman enterprise to the region’s leading team of award winning and credentialed public relations professionals.
Throughout her career, Gambel’s commitment and passion to making a difference has been consistently recognized. PRWeek named Gambel to its inaugural national list of Women Champions of PR. Gambel Communications is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise. The first person in Louisiana to be inducted into the Southern Public Relations Federation Hall of Fame, Gambel was also named the United States Small Business Administration Woman Champion of the Year. Gambel is the publisher of The New Orleans 100 as part of a national publishing network created by journalists and PR professionals to meet the needs of businesses and readers in today’s fast-paced digital world.
