Update: NOPD Arrests Suspect in Second District Theft

UPDATE: David Klump turned himself in to NOPD Second District officers today (June 29) in connection with this investigation. Klump was booked accordingly.

ORIGINAL: The NOPD is asking for help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a theft in the Second District.

On June 9, 2023, and again on June 25, 2023, a 'Pride Flag' was stolen from a statue outside of a business in the 4600 block of Freret Street.

Through investigation, detectives identified David Klump (Pictured, white male, DOB 12-08-1966) as the perpetrator of these thefts.

Klump has been charged with two counts of theft and two counts of a hate crime.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact Second District detectives at (504) 658-6020 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-7867.

All persons are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
