NOPD Homicide Section Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Homicide Investigation

Members of the New Orleans Police Department’s Homicide Section have arrested a 14-year-old male juvenile for Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder. The offense occurred on Monday, June 26, 2023, in the 2500 block of St Claude Avenue.

According to investigators, Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting, and upon their arrival, officers located the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his body. Emergency Medical Technicians transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died.

On June 28, the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Revell Andrews, and determined cause of death to be from gunshot wound injuries.

Throughout the course of the investigation, Homicide Section detectives positively identified the 14-year-old juvenile as the person responsible for the murder and secured an arrest warrant.

Today, the juvenile’s mother turned him in at the Fifth District Station. The suspect was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center and booked accordingly.
