NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission today announced that it will open a select number of pools on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. This is the second year NORD will open any of its facilities on a holiday.

Due to the Fourth of July holiday falling on a Tuesday and the current modified summer pool schedules, there is a need to provide residents with additional opportunities to cool off and enjoy aquatics recreation over the holiday.

NORD will open five city pools on Tuesday, July 4, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., weather permitting. The pools that will be open and fully staffed include:

  • Federal City outdoor pool: 2200 Constitution St. (Westbank)
  • Rosenwald outdoor pool: 1120 S. Broad St.
  • Lyons outdoor pool: 624 Louisiana Ave.
  • Pradat outdoor pool: 7200 Dreaux Ave.
  • Sanchez indoor pool: 1616 Fats Domino Ave.
The five open pools will offer open swim and family swim only. Other aquatics and recreation facilities will remain closed. Regular operating hours at all NORD facilities will resume Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
