NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans and Department of Public Works’ (DPW) construction contractor, Barriere Construction Company, LLC, is continuing to implement a series of lane shifts to accommodate roadway restoration work in the Dillard neighborhood. Construction is underway and the latest update is as follows:
- The 1800-1900 blocks of Pleasure Street will have limited access to vehicular traffic
- There will be alternating lane shifts on the northbound travel lanes on the 3300 block of Allen Street to manage traffic, one lane will remain open for all vehicular traffic (see map)
Public safety is our top priority; therefore, signage and traffic control measures, such as barricades and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians to the safest route of travel. A detour is in place to relieve traffic congestion and provide alternative travel means.
The $39.5 million Dillard Group A and B project was designed by Gaea Consultants and is being constructed by Barriere Construction Company, LLC. The scope of work varies by block but includes repairing sewage, water and drainage lines, rebuilding the street entirely and repairing sidewalks and curbs. In general, the contractor is working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023, weather permitting.
Since May 2018, DPW has completed 171 projects with an estimated value of $668 million. Today, 50 roadwork projects are under construction with an estimated value of nearly $649 million.
