How many students were enrolled in St. Bernard Parish schools for 2023-24 school year?

There were 7,695 students enrolled in St. Bernard Parish schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.3% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.1% of them were boys, and 48.9% were girls.

Data also showed that white students made up 42.5% of the student body, the largest percentage in the parish, followed by 31.1% Black students, 19.4% Hispanic students and 2.2% Asian students.

Chalmette High School had the highest enrolment among St. Bernard Parish's schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 2,114 students.

According to a 2023 Scholaroo study, Louisiana's education system ranked 49th in the U.S., only ahead of Arizona. The state ranked poorly in key metrics such as school quality, student achievement, and student safety.
