NEW ORLEANS —The City of New Orleans today announced that the Department of Parks & Parkways has awarded a total of $225,000 for their 2023 Tree Planting Grant.
The Department of Parks & Parkways, through a one-time allocation from the New Orleans City Council, is providing funding to nonprofit organizations in Orleans Parish to plant trees on public property throughout the City of New Orleans. These grants will ultimately assist the City in reaching its goal of restoring and expanding New Orleans' urban forest with 40,000 new trees planted by 2030.
The nonprofit partners who received grant funding are:
- Friends of Lafitte Greenway
- Groundwork New Orleans
- HandsOn New Orleans
- Healthy Community Services
- Longue Vue House and Gardens
- Lower 9th Ward Homeownership Association
- NOLA Tree Project
- Sustaining Our Urban Landscape (SOUL)
- The Gentilly Terrace and Gardens Improvement Association
- Tree-Mend-Us Love
- Water Wise Gulf South
- Youth Rebuilding New Orleans
