NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission today announced the return of its highly anticipated drive-thru toy giveaway Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9:00 a.m. until all toys are distributed on the Lafitte Greenway at 1971 St. Louis St. This event is sponsored by our partners Wright and Gray Trial Lawyers.

“We look forward to being able to help make this holiday season special for our youth and families for the fourth year in a row” said NORD CEO Larry Barabino, Jr. “It is an honor to partner with our generous sponsor Wright & Gray Trial Lawyers, other local businesses and community members who are committed to serving our cities youth through the success of this event.”

The idea for the toy giveaway originated in 2020 to help give community members a happier holiday season during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the event took off from there. The toy giveaway started with around 300 toys and has grown each year. Now in its fourth year, this cherished community giveaway aims to ensure no kid is left out this holiday season and that every household has a toy under the tree.

A statement from Wright & Gray Trial Lawyers read, "It is always our mission at Wright Gray to be able to give back to the community. The holidays are a tough time for many families; therefore, anything we can do, we will do to ensure our children will be smiling on Christmas Day. We are honored to be able to join forces with NORD to ensure this event is a success again this year and many years to come."

There will be toys for youth ages 0-13. Each child will receive one holiday gift and must be present in the vehicle at the giveaway. Families are encouraged to arrive early. Toy distribution begins promptly at 9 a.m. until all toys are distributed.
