NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement congratulating Col. Lamar Davis on his retirement as the 26th Superintendent of Louisiana State Police (LSP):
"I extend my sincerest gratitude to Col. Lamar Davis, who has officially retired after 27 years of service," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
"Your unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the residents not only of New Orleans but the entire State of Louisiana has been nothing short of exemplary. Even during our city’s busiest time of the year, you remained a great partner, deploying hundreds of Louisiana State Police to New Orleans over the course of the Carnival Season, which played a huge role in ensuring a safe and successful Mardi Gras for our residents and thousands of visitors.
Your 27-year journey in law enforcement, marked by achievements, adventures, and, at times, profound loss, reflects a career of service that goes beyond duty. Your leadership has inspired a sense of unity and teamwork within LSP, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and improvement. Thank you for your outstanding service and the enduring legacy you leave behind as 26th Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police."
