NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement on the Inauguration of Jeff Landry as the 57th Governor of the State of Louisiana:
"I would like to congratulate Jeff Landry on officially being sworn in as the 57th Governor of the State of Louisiana," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
"I am encouraged by Gov. Landry’s recognition of New Orleans as a driving economic engine for the state. I remain hopeful that, by working together, we can seize the opportunity to outline our accomplishments, strategize on aligned priorities, such as our joint efforts to end federal oversight of the New Orleans Police Department by the consent decree, and address head-on the other challenges our city and state collectively face.
It is also my hope that, in collaboration with the New Orleans City Council, we will be unified advocates in advancing our city’s and our people’s needs at the state level. It is only through the true spirit of partnership that we will continue the progress we have made in creating a more positive, inclusive, equitable and prosperous environment for all.”
