A New Orleans resident, William Lang, aged 46, has pled guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute significant quantities of cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl. The plea was entered on November 27, 2024, before United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans confirmed the charges involve five kilograms or more of cocaine, one kilogram or more of heroin, and four hundred grams or more of fentanyl. These activities occurred within the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Lang faces a potential sentence ranging from a minimum of ten years to life imprisonment. Additionally, he could be fined up to $10 million and would be subject to at least five years of supervised release following any prison term. A mandatory special assessment fee of $100 also applies.
The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation aimed at targeting high-level drug traffickers and related criminal organizations in the United States. This task force employs a multi-agency approach that combines federal, state, and local law enforcement resources.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration's New Orleans Field Division Office with assistance from multiple agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Border Patrol, Gretna Major Crimes Task Force, Kenner Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. John’s Parish Sheriff’s Office, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, and New Orleans Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman from the Narcotics Unit is handling the prosecution.
