The NOPD has arrested wanted suspect Brian K. Carter (black male, DOB: 12-31-1970) as the suspected perpetrator of multiple business burglaries.

On July 2, 2023, at about 9:05 a.m. NOPD Sixth District officers were dispatched to an alarm call in the 2800 block of Lasalle Street. In under four minutes, officers flooded the area and quickly devised a strategy to approach and search the area. During their search, officers located Carter, who was wanted in connection to a series of recent church burglaries in the district, walking in the 2800 block of South Saratoga and carrying electric power tools. Officers performed a suspicious persons stop, which resulted in the apprehension of Carter without further incident.

Carter was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on multiple counts of burglary and theft.

Sixth District detectives are currently investigating multiple additional incidents believed to be connected to Carter. Additional charges are pending.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is urged to contact NOPD Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060.
