U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans has announced that Coy David Miller, aged 49 from Youngsville, Louisiana, pled guilty on October 9, 2024, to possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors. This charge is a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2252(a)(4)(B) and (b)(2). Miller faces a potential sentence of up to twenty years in prison and/or a fine of $250,000 or more. He also faces supervised release for a period ranging from five years to life and must pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

Court documents reveal that on October 17, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and special agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security searched Miller at Louis Armstrong International Airport upon his return from Cancun, Mexico. Federal agents discovered images and videos of pre-pubescent child pornography in his possession.

Sentencing for this case is set for January 15, 2024, before United States District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice launched in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project involves federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute offenders who exploit children online and rescue victims.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office acknowledges the assistance provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba is handling the prosecution as Chief of the Financial Crimes Unit.
