There were 43,875 students enrolled in Orleans Parish School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 2.5% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.1% of them were boys, and 48.9% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 77.4% of the Orleans Parish School District total enrollment.

Orleans Parish School District covers approximately 42 schools within Orleans Parish, with its main office in New Orleans.

Among the 42 schools in Orleans Parish School District, KIPP Morial recorded the highest enrollment of 953 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021-22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
