NOLA PROJECT CONTINUES SEASON 18 WITH REGIONAL PREMIERE New comedy

NEW ORLEANS – The NOLA Project theatre company invites you to travel back to a simpler time.In 2015, the classifieds website Craigslist reigned supreme in all things. Maggie, a broke college student, utilizing the somewhat-seedy service, finds quick, consistent cash helping strangers on the World Wide Web express their wildest sides. In the process, she discovers more about people (and herself) than she ever wanted to know.

CRAIGSLISTED has been presented at various venues – including NOLA Brewing Co. as part of TNP’s Rough Draughts reading series – since playwright Sharai Bohannon published the piece in 2015. It is one of the highest-rated scripts amongst thousands on the National New Play Network’s New Play Exchange. Universities and community theatres have mounted full-scale showings as recently as 2018, but the December 2022 production marks the script’s professional debut.

Co-Artistic Director Brittany N. Williams says, “It's always exciting to see a play from reading to full production with all the bells and whistles. Playwright Sharai Bohannon gives us a glimpse into a world of strange people who are no less real for their quirks and kinks. It's a joy to revisit and bring new audiences with us.” Co-Artistic Director A.J. Allegra adds, “Sharai is a gifted playwright with a stellar sense of humor. We are so excited to bring her work to New Orleans for the first time.”

Ensemble member Leslie Claverie (THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW) directs the production featuring recent NOLA Project artists Ross Brill (THE SEAGULL), Keith Claverie (TREASURE ISLAND), Aria Jackson* (SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY) and Megan Whittle (TREASURE ISLAND). Emily Bagwill*, Mariola Chalas*, Donyae Lewis and Robert A. Mitchell make their NOLA Project mainstage debuts.

“I’ve been a big fan of this script ever since we first discovered it almost five years ago,” said Leslie Claverie. “Seeing it come to life every night in rehearsals has been a true treat, and I cannot wait for everyone to meet these quirky characters.”

The production team includes Kaelyn Bailey*, Duncan Becker*, Nia Benn, Jenny L. Billot, Roger Bouche*, Bridget Ann Boyle*, Beau Bratcher, Grant Ingram, Amara Elizabeth Skinner* and Olivia Winter.

CRAIGSLISTED runs through December 17 at Loyola University’s Marquette Theater with performances at 7: 30 p.m., Thurs-Sat and 3 p.m., Sundays. For tickets, and more information, visit NOLAProject.com.
