The Beat Goes on with the Golden Sound Marching Band

New Orleans, La. – Xavier University of Louisiana’s Athletics and music divisions have joined together for a dynamic vision and ambition to cultivate the newly christened Golden Sound Marching Band into a powerhouse to rival the marching bands at its HBCU fellows. Formerly known as the Xavier University Pep Band, the Golden Sound is currently composed of 65 elite members and has committed to offering partial band scholarships for its chosen participants.

The University’s band club was established on Xavier’s Campus in 2019 as a small pep band and continues to grow every day. The Band will create and participate in HBCU festivities around campus while participating in the rich culture of New Orleans’s parades, which celebrate the heritage, history, and pride of Louisiana excellence.

“I’m looking forward to cultivating my team into their Golden Sound musicianship,” said Keith Wilson Jr., a junior studying Jazz Studies and Golden Sound Drum Major. “I’m also looking forward to leading our team into the New Orleans cultured-style parades. XU will be representing! It is our time to continue to shine.”

Along the way, The Golden Sound will continue demonstrating its model by providing a journey through performances and musicianship. Xavier’s Golden Sound has already provided excitement and energy on campus.

Interested musicians who are ready to step with the newly minted Gold Sound Marching Band can submit applications here.
